Question by : I’m going to be in the USA for just 2 weeks. What is my best prepaid/pay as you go plan for my cell phone?
I used to have Cingular pay as you go, but after i moved to Europe for over a year, i lost my number. Now i am visiting friends for 2 weeks in the States, and need a phone to stay in contact with the people i will be hanging out with there. I’m guessing that that will involve making calls and sending text messages on a daily basis.

I already have an unlocked phone, so all i need is a Sim card. What is my cheapest option?

Question about pay as you go cell phones.?

Question by jessie: Question about pay as you go cell phones.?
Hi. I have a pay as you go cell phone from AT & T that I havent used since April 2010. Im trying to activate it but obviously dialing 611 is not working. I entered the phone number on the computer for activation – no luck. I also entered the sims card number – no luck. If I purchase an AT & T card to activate the phone – will it work? I dont want to spend the money because these cards are not refundable. I wanted to do it online or by calling 611 to speak to an operator but like I said – no luck…… Anyone have any advice?

If you let your service lapse then it will expire. you lose any unused funds you bought and your phone number. If you want to re-activate your cell, you will need to get a new Sim card and pay for more service. its cheaper to get a new phone which comes with a Sim card and probably from $ 15. to $ 50. worth of time.
Most AT&T stores won’t sell you a new Sim card for your old pre-paid phone. So just buy a new phone, they start at about $ 29 anyway. Check your local RadioShack they sell AT&T too.

Q&A: My 2yr cell phone contract is up? Can i use that phone somehow as a prepaid or pay as you go?

Question by : My 2yr cell phone contract is up? Can i use that phone somehow as a prepaid or pay as you go?
I was just wondering since my contract is now up, is there any way I can use a different service for it. Right now i had Verizon, but they’re taking my $ $ , and i need something cheaper. (i don’t know much about pay as you go and prepaid services, but,) Is there any way i could use a service where i don’t have to have a contract. Such as Virgin mobile. The $ 35 a month plan is something i would like from virgin mobile, so can i use my existing phone, or do i have to buy one of their phones to use their service. Also, the phone i have now is an lg envy touch.

Question by the smart one…: Pay As You GO Phone HELP?? ((at&t)) ?
I have the at&t pay as you go cell phone and am going on a school trip. My parents said that i have to call home everyday at night. My plan is the $ .25 cent/per minute and I was wondering can i change it to the dollar a day just for a few days and then change it back to my regular plan??? Thanks

Answer by Tommy B
YES.
I did exactly that and they did it hassle free and cost free.

FYI- you can even go so far as to buy 3000 night & weekend minutes for only $ 19.99. If you do the math (or allow me to) that’s a savings of $ 280 if you’re on the 10 cents a min plan. Nights start at 9pm and end at 6am. So from Friday night at 9 till Monday morning at 6 all your calls are FREE. You just pay the $ 1 a day. Wow, that’s huge!
Yup.

I think TMobile is the best. After you spend $ 100 with them, your purchased minutes can last a year and they give you a 15% minute bonus. Don’t have current comparison details, but I’d check them first.

Any drug store (Duane Reade or CVS, for example) or Walmart or Target or even supermarket has a decent selection of prepaid phones and minute cards. In fact, Tracfone actually has a $ 10 phone in some stores.

Doesn’t matter if you think phone-wise. You can use any phones for pay as you go. Your initial selection sucks, but you can buy better phones that works with the network and just insert your SIM card, assuming it’s At&t you’re going to use going by you saying pay as you go.

For pay as you go, you can use it yourself, no need to use someone else’s name and no need for it. If you’re going to get a contract, then you need someone else to help you out.
