Q&A: Can a Blackberry be used as both a cell phone AND pager?
0Question by MissDeviance: Can a Blackberry be used as both a cell phone AND pager?
A client that I work for wants me to get a Blackberry so that they can contact me with it as a pager and send me short emails as needed. I’ve never had one of these so I don’t know much about them.
But I currently have a pay-as-you-go cell phone that I was thinking of replacing. I asked whether the Blackberry has a cell on it too, and they said no it’s just a pager limited to their work group.
I was wondering if it’s possible to get a Blackberry with BOTH their pager network AND a cell phone plan (and I’d pay for the cell phone plan), so I can ask them to get that model or plan specifically.
They use Sprint, so it would need to be something that Sprint offers too.
If no one knows, I guess I can just stop in at a Sprint store and ask! LOL. But I’m curious if someone is already using a Blackberry in this way.
(And if so, what’s the voice quality like on a Blackberry?)
(And UGH, I can’t believe I’m going to be one of “those” Crackberry people!)

Yes you can do that tell them that you will pay for your calling plan and have them pay for your email and pager plan. All you have to do is find out how much a regular calling plan for a lackberry is and subtract the from your monthly bill and have them pay the difference.

It really depends on what plan you have. You will find that you will pay additional fees according to the amount of texts you want to purchase per month.

I’m going to be in the USA for just 2 weeks. What is my best prepaid/pay as you go plan for my cell phone?
2Question by : I’m going to be in the USA for just 2 weeks. What is my best prepaid/pay as you go plan for my cell phone?
I used to have Cingular pay as you go, but after i moved to Europe for over a year, i lost my number. Now i am visiting friends for 2 weeks in the States, and need a phone to stay in contact with the people i will be hanging out with there. I’m guessing that that will involve making calls and sending text messages on a daily basis.
I already have an unlocked phone, so all i need is a Sim card. What is my cheapest option?

SPRINT offers unlimited for everything for 99.99/month
T-Mobile offers unlimited minutes and text for 99.99/month
Verizon offers unlimited minutes for 99.99/month
Make sure you check their coverages first before you decide which carrier you would like to get, getting a cellphone without a great coverage is a no-no ![]()
Good luck.

Question about pay as you go cell phones.?
0Question by jessie: Question about pay as you go cell phones.?
Hi. I have a pay as you go cell phone from AT & T that I havent used since April 2010. Im trying to activate it but obviously dialing 611 is not working. I entered the phone number on the computer for activation – no luck. I also entered the sims card number – no luck. If I purchase an AT & T card to activate the phone – will it work? I dont want to spend the money because these cards are not refundable. I wanted to do it online or by calling 611 to speak to an operator but like I said – no luck…… Anyone have any advice?

If you let your service lapse then it will expire. you lose any unused funds you bought and your phone number. If you want to re-activate your cell, you will need to get a new Sim card and pay for more service. its cheaper to get a new phone which comes with a Sim card and probably from $ 15. to $ 50. worth of time.
Most AT&T stores won’t sell you a new Sim card for your old pre-paid phone. So just buy a new phone, they start at about $ 29 anyway. Check your local RadioShack they sell AT&T too.
