Do you mean the AT&T gophone? If you do, you can just walk into any local AT&T vender and they should be able to set you up. The process is pretty simple:
You buy a phone (from $ 20- $ 90, depending on the features you want).
Give some info, and put some money on your phine. They said you could put any amount you wanted, but actually you have to put at least $ 15 dollars. That gives you minutes that last 1/2 a month, depending on how much you use your phone or who you call. Services cost $ 1 /day, only when you make your 1st phone call. All calls to other AT&T users are free.
You could also go to the website for more info.

For the T-mobile pay-as-you-go plan, can I buy the plan for a non-T-mobile cell phone?
1Question by Ms. Elisa: For the T-mobile pay-as-you-go plan, can I buy the plan for a non-T-mobile cell phone?
I have a Cingular (ATT) cell phone, but I want to cancel my current plan with ATT and purchase the pay-as-you-go T-mobile plan. I don’t want to buy a new cell phone because I love the one I have.
Would it be possible for me to keep my current cell phone?

The only way to do that, is to get the phone unlocked. A phone bought from AT&T is “locked in” to AT&T, meaning you can’t just pop a T-Mobile SIM in. Unlocking requires a code. There are reputable sites online that will send you the code with a 100 percent money back guarantee, and the price varies, depending upon the phone model. A regular old phone will be fairly cheap, whereas Blackberrys, Iphones, or Sidekicks are pretty expensive. This is the ONLY way to be able to use an AT&T phone through T-Mobile, is by having it unlocked.

Q&A: Cell phones, pay-as-you-go OR monthly/yearly contract?
14Question by Nuseed: Cell phones, pay-as-you-go OR monthly/yearly contract?
I know when the pay as you go phones first hit the scene there was this social stigma attached to them. People seemed to actually turn their noses at you if you weren’t on a contract. Why I don’t know…it’s craziness. Anyway, I’d just like to know what you all think. And don’t forget to pick up your two points on the way out!

Cell phone plan or pay-as-you-go?
1Question by Chantal Aubin: Cell phone plan or pay-as-you-go?
I’m about to move back to Canada (Victoria,BC) after living abroad for one year. I am wondering the following questions. Any opinions and reasons are greatly appreciated!
1) Is a plan or a pay as you go better?
I use my phone mainly for incoming calls, and if possible texting, although texting is not a must.
2)Which company is better, and why?
Got some good advice, but I live in Canada…those are all american..Help!

Q&A: simple pay-as-you-go cell phone plans…?
0Question by xxo.nicole: simple pay-as-you-go cell phone plans…?
hello! currently i have a cell with telus. i pay $ 10 a month and i get unlimited text (but thats it).. i dont get any minutes a month.. so when i go under $ 5 it adds $ 10.
anyway, i want a new phone and i dont want to get it with telus again.
i really only use my phone for texting and i dont want to have to sign a contract anywhere. i know this means that im going to have to pay a lot of money for the phone itself.
i hate the way telus has their text messaging set up (you can only see 3 lines when you text and its hard to change things after youve typed them..)
i was wondering if anyone could give me ideas or point me in the right direction to a company that had simple plans.. similar to mine (up to $ 20/month) with unlimited text.
that would be really ideal, but i live in canada.. so i dont think i can use verizon

Go online and check out Verizon’s InPulse Plans. I actually used my mother’s old cell phone (my parents upgrade every 2-4 years) to get a prepay plan. No contract, no cost for the phone!! Their messaging bundle is $ 10/month for Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Messaging with Verizon Wireless customers PLUS 250 additional messages.

Q&A: What are some cell phone companies with good pay-as-you-go plans?

In the US the best one is TMobile because one of their plans is just pay as you go. All of the other companies (with reliable service) charge you $ 1.00 a day for using the phone which ends up being just such as a service charge. Let’s say you use your phone 30 days a month so you pay $ 30.00 for having the phone.
TMobile has one plan which charges you only for the minutes you use. and for text messages you send. The price for their text messages is extremely reasonable as well.
I have a monthly plan with AT&T but I also have a prepaid with TMobile which I use mostly for text messages in the US and abroad because of their prices. I highly recommend them.
They have great customer service adn I can use their phone anywhere in the US>
Another plus (if you happen to travel overseas) is that after 90 days and $ 100.00 they “unlock” your phone and you can use that phone overseas only buying a SIM card wherever you go. You might want to buy a quad band phone and you can use it virtually anywhere in the world. That will save you literally hundreds of dollars in calls while you are overseas.
Good luck!!!!

Does any cell phone have pay-as-you-go minutes which do NOT expire?
0Question by Docmaggot: Does any cell phone have pay-as-you-go minutes which do NOT expire?
I’d like to get a phone that doesn’t penalize me for not using it- but I can’t find one. The problem is that I use the phone very little – it is essentially for emergencies, so I could use it for as little as 4 or 5 times a year. When I’ve bought inexpensive “prepaid” phones, the “Gotcha!” is always that the time I buy -with credit card or smart card- expires before I use it.
The nearest I’ve come to a solution is the GoPhone option to buy a year of time at one time… but that costs $ 100 and I refuse to pay that much for the 4 or 5 calls I’m likely to make in a year.
So this is a phone I intend to keep in my car to phone ahead for last-minute restaurant reservations and minor emergencies.
Is there any better solution for a phone which I intend to use so rarely?

It is not really about the phone but about the service provider. I do not think any service provider offers call minutes that do not expire. Once, a local service provider here in the Philippines offered a deal where you get 50 texts and 5 minutes of calls worth 15 pesos (1$ =42 pesos on average) which do not expire. The promo was only for prepaid and only lasted for a few months.
I think you should just stick to that cheapest option you found.

I know they made a law that covers this when you close your account with the big name networks….but since this is PAY-AS-YOU-GO, i was curious if I could keep the number they gave me.
Thank you.

If you are talking about Local Number Portability (aka bringing your phone number with you to another company), it can be done with any phone number (including pay as you go).
