How does “pay-as-you-go” work for cell phones?
4Question by *: How does “pay-as-you-go” work for cell phones?
Make sure your answer is detailed. I want to know exactly how it works. I’ve never owned a cell phone before, so I have no idea. Do minutes ever expire? If you have no minutes, can your phone still recieve incoming calls? If someone else phones you, does that conversation still use up minutes? What about text messaging? What about long-distance phone calls? Are long-distance text messages any different than local text-messages? Are there any special Sunday rates?
Please describe everything in detail — I’m completely clueless.
My phone will not be for every day chatting, it will be for three minute conversations about where we are going to meet, and emergencies.

that means that you buy your minutes like 10 cents per minute and then when you run out you have to buy more

Question about pay as you go cell phones.?
0Question by jessie: Question about pay as you go cell phones.?
Hi. I have a pay as you go cell phone from AT & T that I havent used since April 2010. Im trying to activate it but obviously dialing 611 is not working. I entered the phone number on the computer for activation – no luck. I also entered the sims card number – no luck. If I purchase an AT & T card to activate the phone – will it work? I dont want to spend the money because these cards are not refundable. I wanted to do it online or by calling 611 to speak to an operator but like I said – no luck…… Anyone have any advice?

If you let your service lapse then it will expire. you lose any unused funds you bought and your phone number. If you want to re-activate your cell, you will need to get a new Sim card and pay for more service. its cheaper to get a new phone which comes with a Sim card and probably from $ 15. to $ 50. worth of time.
Most AT&T stores won’t sell you a new Sim card for your old pre-paid phone. So just buy a new phone, they start at about $ 29 anyway. Check your local RadioShack they sell AT&T too.

Pay as you go cell phones… what’s the best deal?
5Question by Lisa Faye Chardonnay: Pay as you go cell phones… what’s the best deal?
I have two french foreign exchange students living w/me. In order to open a US bank account, they must have a US phone number under their name. There is no land line in the apartment (this would be $ 33/month) as I use my cell phone all the time and they use Skype (VOIP).
We would like to know what the best “pay as you go” type of cell phone deal is, since the phone (and number) would only be used for transactions with bank, etc. Thank you and merci beaucoup!

Q&A: Pay-as-you-go cell phones? Please help!!?
1Question by Alison: Pay-as-you-go cell phones? Please help!!?
I’m looking for a pay-as-you-go cell phone that doesn’t require you to pay per month. I’m in high school and I pay for my cell phone minutes on my own. I need a prepaid cell phone provider that has good service and gives you more “bang for your buck”. I’ve had TracFone for a few years and it’s crap!!! They have horrible service and it’s REALLY expensive! What provider is best for me – and cheap? Thanks!
