Q&A: Are Cingular pay as you go cell phones costly to use?
0Question by Aptoslady: Are Cingular pay as you go cell phones costly to use?
My teenage sons new Cingular seems to cost alot more to keep going than the Virgin Mobile he had previously. I am constantly putting more money on his phone. It does not appear that he uses it any more frequently than the Virgin Mobile phone.

It’s pretty expensive. I don’t use my GoPhone much and I’m always buying airtime. I would suggest Cricket if they have it in your area. I had Cricket in AZ, and the service is great, and inexpensive too. Right now Cricket is having a special where you get your first months and activations for free. They also have plans that start at $ 30 a month, and one that’s only $ 45 for unlimited EVERYTHING. I mean, he could be on the phone 24 hours a day making and recieving local and long distabce calls, sending text messages, etc, and you don’t gotta worry that he’ll go over his minutes, night & weekend rates, or anything. It’s great.
Anyway, if you stick with Cingular, you might save money if you go with the GoPhone Pick Your Plan, because at least he’ll get free nights & weekends.

My account balance is about to expire. The user manual says that there is a 60 day grace period before the account will be terminated. Will I be able to add money to my account (during the grace period) using a prepaid pay as you go phone card?

you can add minutes anytime if you have a credit card. I dont know too much about the phone card because I do the automatic payment plan. You can access the GoPhone service to add minutes and add or change plans free of charge by dialing 611 on your cell phone.

What are the best rates and phones for “Pay as You Go” cell phone service?
0Question by Mr. Walrus: What are the best rates and phones for “Pay as You Go” cell phone service?
First time ever going to get a prepaid phone… man it’s a mess and none of these department store teenagers know the details of the very own company they work for. I just want something that is pay as you go. NOT PREPAID. Prepaid sounds just like a monthly plan to me so what’s the point. I just want to pay for what I use and if I don’t use it in a month then I hope it’s still there. Also who has fairly good phones and less hassle.
So far the best deal I found was t-mobile. I pay 10 to 50 bucks for a certain amount of minutes. They’re good for 90 days and you only refill when you need to. 10cents per min and 10cents per text. That’s it. Simple.
So what do the other companies have to offer? Boost, ATT, Verizon, Cricket, Net10 whoever. What do you have and what do you like please. Thanks in advance.

I have Net10. The rates are 10 cents a minute and 5 cents per text message, sent or received. Some newer model phones offer 3 cents a minute per messages sent or received.
If you you get the 300 minute card you will pay $ 30 a month. Or $ 180 a year for service with 1800 minutes, if you only add minutes every 60 days. So that is $ 15 a month. The $ 30 a month card is the most economical way to ensure you have 150 minutes a month and service.
Tracfone is another option. You can get service for an entire year for $ 20.00 every three months or $ 80.00 a year. You just need to buy 60 minutes every three months. If you get some phones they will say “double minutes for life”. These phones will double all minutes that you add to your phone. So for $ 80.00 a year you will get 480 minutes.
You can also use bonus codes with Tracfone, that give you extra minutes. This is a 5 digit code that you can find if you do an internet search of “tracfone bonus codes”. They usually give you an extra 20 minutes for each card you enter.
I hope I helped if you have any questions concerning the information that I provided you can message me back and I will try to answer them.

Q&A: Cell phones, pay-as-you-go OR monthly/yearly contract?
14Question by Nuseed: Cell phones, pay-as-you-go OR monthly/yearly contract?
I know when the pay as you go phones first hit the scene there was this social stigma attached to them. People seemed to actually turn their noses at you if you weren’t on a contract. Why I don’t know…it’s craziness. Anyway, I’d just like to know what you all think. And don’t forget to pick up your two points on the way out!

Has anyone herd of a “pay as you go for cell phones” law made by the government?
2Question by Skylar: Has anyone herd of a “pay as you go for cell phones” law made by the government?
I have been hearing that the government is getting rid of cell phone plans and replacing them with a pay as you go standard plan for everyone. They said it was because all of the plans are “thrashing up” the system or something?
